Policy and Procedure Development

At the core of any correctional operation lie the written instructions and guidelines that form the framework for handling a wide array of challenging situations.

It is these Policies and Procedures that correctional staff rely on for support and direction, and it is these same P&Ps that will undergo close scrutiny by investigators and attorneys in response to offender complaints and legal challenges. A sound body of policy and procedure is also critical to any accreditation effort.

In addition to establishing your everyday operational parameters, your P&Ps should also address contingencies that could adversely impact your operation and increase your liability. Your P&Ps should be organized and written in a clear, concise manner that leaves little room for errant interpretation. Coupled with focused training, sound Policies and Procedures mean a sound operation.
