Functional Layout Design

Capital improvement projects offer tremendous opportunities to incorporate operational and security advantages.

To the extent that inmate movement, program needs and specific workload elements are understood, new facility construction or other improvement projects can incorporate design and technological features that will pay off every hour of every day.

My experience in functional layout analysis began while I was the management analyst for a large urban hospital prior to entering the correctional field. I have an understanding of correctional program space development concerns and have designed scaled floorplans incorporating functional relationships, security needs and staff workflow efficiencies that architects have used as the basis for final designs.
